The Music

Django Chutney's repertoire is drawn mainly from the classic "Hot Club" style swing music of the 1930s and 1940s , played by an all-string line-up consisting of violin, two guitars and a double bass.

As the name suggests, there is a lot of Django Reinhardt ( and Stephane Grapelli ) material, but also other styles, such as gypsy music, classic jazz standards, and vocal features.

We have a large band book , with a great variety of tunes and can choose, or vary, the mood according to the occasion or audience.

The sound is authentic, with all the correct acoustic instruments, giving a true period feel. Perfect for themed 1930's or 1940's events. Or just to give that added extra dimension to your function.

We are quite capable of playing totally acoustically and keeping the sound levels low. Or on the other hand we have very high quality PA equipment if you need to fill a large hall or theatre, or put on an outdoor event. And anything between these two extremes will sound classy as well.
